Dec 16 Update from our COO: Seasons Dufferin Centre
We were just advised by Hastings Prince Edward Public Health that we have a positive COVID-19 case at Seasons Dufferin Centre. The affected individual has been isolating since December 8th and we have no other symptomatic staff or residents at this time. The risk to our staff and residents has been deemed low.
However, in an abundance of caution, the Hastings Prince Edward Public Health Medical Officer of Health (MOH) is declaring an outbreak status and has asserted that we must immediately comply with the following
orders:
• All residents are to isolate in the comfort of their suites
• No general visitors allowed
• Only one essential, designated family/support person/caregiver is permitted
• Residents may not leave the premises unless it is for medically necessary reasons
• Prevalence testing for all staff
The health and safety of all our staff and residents continue to be our highest priority. We are working closely with Hastings Prince Edward Public Health to ensure the safety of all residents and staff. Contract tracing continues, and the situation is being closely monitored. Please rest assured that you will be contacted directly if you are deemed high risk of exposure. Public Health will advise us if and when residents are to be tested for COVID-19. We will keep you updated as we learn more.
As always, all team members are asked to self-assess for symptoms and exposure risk using our screening tool before reporting to a site for their shift. COVID-19 testing will take place at Seasons Dufferin Centre today and
tomorrow for staff.
Residents will be isolated to the comfort of their private suites as of dinner time today. We will deliver all three meals, snacks and continue to conduct twice-daily wellness checks. Our team is committed to keeping residents engaged and connected during this time. Families, we encourage you to keep in touch with your loved one via phone, text or email. Our team members are more than happy to discuss alternative options to connect with your loved ones.
We know this is disheartening news, especially so close to the holidays. We will continue to be transparent with all of you as we continue to monitor this situation closely. Thank you for the trust you have placed in Seasons Retirement Communities. We take our responsibility very seriously and will continue to make decisions with our staff and residents’ health and safety in mind.
Sincerely,
LeighAnne Voll
